SilverHawks: Season 1; Volume 2 (4 Discs)

JUST SOMETHING TO KNOW
This isn't a review of the show but more of a warning to anyone who wants to buy this item. I read another review that said not to freak out over the backside of the DVD because it's purplish in color and not the standard clear color. This person believes that it is a copy coding thing or something but in reality the reason that it is purplish is because it is a DVD-R. Pretty much all DVD-R's have this same color on the backside of the DVD. I'm not saying that the DVD's are poor in quality or anything but just know that they are not professionally produced DVD's. Also, if u look at the descriptions very carefully there is a note about DVD-R's as well as letting u know that the region is all regions which also usually means DVD-R's. Your professional DVD's usually are like region 1 for the US and then there's region 2 and 4, etc. Just thought I would give u a heads up about this DVD set. I will still probably purchase it because it will be nice to finally have all of the...

these disks just do not play
This is the second time I have attempted to purchase "burn-on-demand" dvd9s from Amazon. And the second time that NOTHING will successfully play them. On a number of different players they either freeze or go blocky or just skip sections in the middle of a showing. I am sure that the content is wonderful, otherwise I would not pay the asking prices for the products, but I am just as sure that I will not make the same mistake a third time.

I hope you have better success with these then I did.

SilverHawks Now Complete
I should first say how rapidly I received this, the long-delayed second half of the 80s animated series Silverhawks. It was an early Christmas gift, and I didn't expect this to come out until early January!
At any rate, I checked out some episodes and I can't complain about the quality -- well done.
Also, don't freak out when you look at the playing surface of the discs of Volume 2 (they have a purplish appearance as opposed to the shiny, full color spectrum appearance). It must be some copy-proof thing. But they will do just fine in all DVD players (including my Arcam DVD player).
I'm glad we now have all 65 episodes of this 80s classic!

Rosario + Vampire - Season One

More then a love triangle
I love this anime. It's nice to have quirky monsters of all sorts. But what I liked best, which kind of irks me with other adolescent love stories is that the two main characters are truly in love with each other and they know it. That doesn't stop everything else that goes on around them. I'm a sucker for true love, so I'm a sucker (yes she's a vampire) for this. Not to mention her kick butt alter ego. I wanted more, but only two seasons.

Either read the Manga or Watch the Anime not both
I've seen the manga and the Anime (saw anime first) and so let me be frank either go read the manga or watch the anime not both, this is true of any series not just this one, because 99.9% of the time your going to be dissapointed. I've watched this entire anime on netflix and I love it, I love harem anime's even if the formula is over used sometimes.

Here we have a Teenage boy who for reasons unknown ends up going to a school run by monsters for monsters, almost right off the bat he makes a friend and meets his primary love intrest: a cute and cheerful pink haired girl who turns out to be a vampire with multiple personality disorder (which actually adds to the humor) but in true harem anime fashion other girls soon begin to persue him, an ice woman (basically an ice spirit) a bisexual witch and a succubus all decide he is theirs and theirs alone.

Most of the series focuses on their day to day adventures at school, as short as it was you actually learn a decent...

Fun and Enjoyable!
I was a bit torn between the reviews but I went ahead and bought the first season. I finished it today and found it funny and enjoyable. It may not be for die hard anime fans but it was fun and upbeat. If your looking for some bubble gum to watch over and over this is a great choice. I already ordered season 2. Lots of fan service and some harsh language but nothing that takes away from the show. Not for the kids but cool for any older teens or adults.

Zen

I Rate This Movie: One Giant Full Moon
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Never has the topic of enlightenment been captured so eloquently and symbolically. A great full moon shines brightly upon every element of this picture: scenery, performances, costuming, and story. It captures Zen in its infancy, its growning pains, and its lasting legacy. It gives you an insight into the stillness and silence of Zen practice. It's inspiring and full of wisdom. Multiple viewings are definitely recommended. The DVD includes a featurette, which is also beautiful and gives further insight into Dogen and Zen.

eyes horizontal and nose vertical
Prepare to be immersed in the now - in the active world of monks seeking answers and men and women living in dispair and confusion. The dharma and the value of just sitting will be revealed - directly and from beautiful actors in images of high production value. A well made film. Could you be a Zen monk? Can Zen insight be about how to live in this world as a man or a woman? Eyes horizontal and nose vertical.

Dramatization of how Dogen founded Soto Zen in Japan
Portrays the Tendai priest who considered that his sect had gotten away from its founder's intentions of quiet contemplation, and instead developed into a worldly (with an army of guards for protection) practice full of ritual with many practitioners not really sincere. He went to China as had most priests searching for Dharma instruction and found a practice which he developed into one of simple meditation and contemplation. He is considered one of the great Buddhist philosophers of Japan. I am not an historian, and am not sure of the details, but for someone who is interested in foundations of Japanese culture or particularly in Buddhism, I would recommend this movie as an enjoyable way to get an historical introduction. It will not teach anyone how to practice, but it does present history and some of the spirituality.

The Twelve Kingdoms: A Great Distance in the Wind, the Sky at Dawn [Blu-ray]

Great Anime and Great Blu-ray!
This is an amazing anime that I would recommend to anyone.

Amazon has fast shipping, they shipped my copy on 12/15/2011 and it arrived on 12/17/2011.

After watching my copy I found that, like the first and second sets, the picture and sound quality (I watched this blu-ray release in Japanese DTS-HD 5.1 with English subtitles) of this blu-ray set is great!

This set contains episodes 34-45 on 3 discs (there are 45 episodes total in this series, so this is the final set in the series) and staff interviews.

I like it
This story is not original novel but that is Rival or surpass!!
I had enjoy that Blue-ray disk also picture is beautyful!!

Still Great
This is the third box set for The Twelve Kingdoms, and by now you're fully engulfed into the story and get to see some action. Some of the story remains very lethargic, but I still loved the series; most of the time I like to have a varying soundtrack, but it seemed right to have the theme song playing throughout the anime as it had been. No matter what scene they put with it, it just seem to fit.

Just get the anime and watch it all the way through, you won't regreat it at all.

The Jetsons: Season Two; Volume Two (3 Discs)

Great show, bad dvds
I knew already when I bought this that this were cheap DVD-R
What I didn't know was the lack of subtitles and closed captioned, which I find terribly disappointing, first of all, because I want to share this show with hearing impaired people and with non english speakers, and second I find it terribly disappointing that I payed way too much for this vol. 2, this volume is more expensive that the first season and S 02 Vol. 1 and made cheaper, at least the other two had everything a DVD needs, this is just a shame, if you don't care about this and sharing it with people that need subtitles, buy it, but well, they should put a warning to it.
Shame Hanna Barbera.

Jetson, You're Not Fired!!
It is hard to believe that this year marks the 50th anniversary of The Jetsons. While they have been heavily overshadowed in favor of The Flintstones, the family of the future has had a everlasting impact on animation that still remains enjoyable today, as it did back in the 60's, and when they came back in the 80's as well. The show with George, Elroy and its season which introduced Orbity has had a great deal of laughs in the 1980's. But through it all, in a great deal of animation during Hanna-Barbera's classic giants, they still are just as fun as you could imagine. A few years ago, the shows second season started to be released on DVD, but not all of the cartoons were released for die hard Jetsons fans. But more are still coming and they are worth the effort.

The Jetsons: Season 2 Volume 2 continues the Jetsons classic 80's run to a whole new generation of those whom are into Spongebob Squarepants or The Penguins Of Madagascar. The collection of episodes still remain as...

Great Episodes, But Again, No Extras--Not Even Captions!
There are several episodes of "The Jetsons"--Season 2, Volume 2 which I bought through Amazon On Demand Video because I thought they would never be released on DVD, including "Swiss Family Jetson", "Space Bong" and "Little Bundle of Trouble"--some of these could possibly spawn sequels if a new "Jetsons" series is launched by Seth McFarlane on FOX. I was impressed with the transfer of the master tapes to DVD of the episodes, though I was a little bit less than impressed than the rest of the boxed "Jetsons" sets. The discs weren't even individually labeled (such as a George & Jane disc as opposed to an Elroy or Judy), as it just had the same logo on each one. There are, unfortunately, no half-stars on this rating system, so I am systematically inclined to give this 3.5 out of 5--three stars for the quality of the episodes and only half a star for the shoddy marketing on the behalf of Warner Brothers. I hope WB can give the final ten episodes from 1987 (Season Three) a little better...

Monogram Cowboy Collection Vol. 1 (3 Discs)

Fascinating collection of fine B Westersn
I am a bit surprised that no one has reviewed this three-disc DVD-R set of "Monogram Westerns" yet. During the late 1930s, the 1940s, into the early 1950s (before they switched over completely to Allied Artists), Monogram Pictures produced some of the better "B" or series Westerns, usually around one hour long each, and featuring such endearing big screen cowpokes as Tex Ritter, Jimmy Wakely, Whip Wilson, Johnny Mack Brown (after he left Universal), and the "Rough Riders" (Buck Jones, Tim McCoy, and Raymond Hatton, and later, Rex Bell).

This first edition--a second edition is also projected for early 2012 (with Whip Wilson and Rod Cameron)--includes four films featuring Jimmy Wakely (OKLAHOMA BLUES, PARTNERS OF THE SUNSET, COWBOY CAVALIER, and GUN LAW JUSTICE), four with the indomitable Johnny Mack Brown (OUTLAW GOLD, MAN FROM SONORA, OKLAHOMA JUSTICE, and TEXAS LAWMEN). The last entry is the longer, Cinecolor feature, CAVALRY SCOUT, starring the underrated Rod Cameron. The...

Daktari The Complete First Season (5 Discs)

One of the best TV series from the Sixties
I loved to watch "Daktari" as a teenager on German TV. I thought that Yale Summers was very attractive and until the last episode I was hoping there would be a happy end for him and Paula Tracy (Cheryl Miller who also played 4 times in "Flipper").

Wonderful to finally get this on DVD, but it's hopelessly over-priced for just one season. I'll wait until it will drop $30+.
If you compare prices: you get for the same amount of money the entire "M Squad" series with 2.866 minutes (three times as much as the first season of "Daktari"), the first season of "Flipper" costs $25 for 800 minutes. As I said before, it's too expensive, but hopefully the price will drop dramatically.

Now if finally classic TV series like "Kentucky Jones" (Dennis Weaver), "The Greatest Show on Earth" (Jack Palance), "Hank" (Dick Kallman), "The Farmer's Daughter" (Inger Stevens), "A Man called Shenandoah" (Robert Horton), "Adventures of the Seaspray" (Australian TV series from 1965), "The...

The Doctor is in .......... Africa
I bought this DVD purely for nostalgic purposes.I remember seeing this series as a kid and wanted to see if it was as good as I remember. It is.There is hardly any violence here but plenty of adventure. This is a family show.
Marshall Thompson is perfect as Dr Marsh Tracey.I read that he was interested and cared about wildlife. His sincere performance in this show shines through. He would be more involved in the production of season 2 and I have read that the show gets even better. He was actually bitten by one of the animals in the second season and needed stitches while the animal was sedated. This was kept in when the episode was aired. The only other person I know who sincerity shines through in his performance was Fess Parker in his own series "Daniel Boone"
While I was a kid,for me it was all about the adventures. But now,I have come to appreciate more the hi-jinks of the chimp called Judy. She steals every scene she is in.
There is plenty of action and adventure in these...

"Daktari" is Swahili for doctor...
For lovers of classic television, much progress has been made in getting most of the significant series from the 1960's released on DVD, particularly in the last decade. However, there remain some notable exceptions, particularly in the case of series involving animals. Some that come to mind are Lassie, and the Ivan Tors' productions Gentle Ben, Flipper (only Season One so far), and Daktari. Fortunately, this is about to change, as the first season of Daktari (1966-69), a series set in Africa is being released on DVD-R.

"Daktari" is Swahili for "doctor". This unique series has a memorable theme song that features the Swahili language, native instruments, and wild animal cries. The program centers on the adventures of veterinarian Marsh Tracy (Marshall Thompson), who along with his beautiful daughter Paula (Cheryl Miller) runs the Wameru Study Center for Animal Behavior, a research facility located in the east African bush. Daktari is adapted from the film...

Code Lyoko The Complete Series (21 Disc Collection)

best show ever
this show was not short. 96 episodes and evolution coming in 2012. It was great about teenagers who discovered the world of lyoko. its digital but with it they save the world with their avatar like characters in lyoko. it is a great show and very entertaining. my personal opinion to this show is 5 stars its super entertaining and was so awesome. Ulrich was my favorite and was the samurai in lyoko. it was funny, with action too. perfect for ages 5-12 and good for any other ages too and personally i don't know why this product doesn't have a billion reviews yet and if you are hesitant aout the price save your tooth fairy money and get this because it's worth your money.

This. Was. AMAZING!
One day in the wonderful life of me, I got my paycheck! And I decided to buy the complete series of Code Lyoko because I really wanted it all of a sudden. I was told I'd get it in about a week and a half to two weeks. I actually got it, FOUR DAYS LATER! I was slightly hesitant when I bought this because it didn't say anything about the language. I was worried that it might be in French. I do not know French.../= But it is in English!
The only downside is that it doesn't fit my widescreen tv. It's basically a fullscreen(square) with big black boxes on the right and left of it, but I really don't care about that. I was just so happy to have it. I guess it also didn't matter to me because I don't have a plasma tv. If you have a plasma and want to buy this, I would suggest watching it on a laptop or a tv that isn't a plasma so the square won't burn into the tv.
I plan on keeping this for a very long time and it's worth the money. To me anyways!

Code Lyoko, Stronger...

I LOVE IT!!
code lyoko is, in my opinion AMAZING! 96 episodes and a new 5th season coming in fall 2012 no exact date yet though. its great for all ages. actually make it 5 and up. save your money up because i think youll be pleased to see all these episodes. iv looked everywhere and this is the only place i found every episode!!!! so get it before its sold out.

P90X2: The Next P90X Blu-Ray Series Ultimate Kit

Great for Functional Fitness
This is a great product that does exactly what it is intended to do, build functional fitness. It has a lot of balance/coordination moves and is great at strengthening your kinetic chain. Most of the exercises are done with some form of instability use a medicine ball, stability ball, or using one leg. Examples of this include bicep curls in warrior 3 and pushups on the med ball or stability ball.

The items in this kit (ultimate blu-ray) are very high quality and allow you to get a lot more out of the workouts then you would otherwise. Having said that, it would have been nice if the kit had included 4 med balls instead of 2 and left out the pushup stands, but that is not a big deal. It is worthwhile to price out the components and see what is the best option. At the time I bought this kit it was less expensive to get the kit then buy the individual components.

I like having the blu-ray version as there are fewer discs then the DVD version and they have a...

P90X2 DVD Workout - Base Kit

A True Evolution in Home Fitness. . . But Not as Accessible as the 1st Series, Won't Appeal to Everyone (Even Though It Should!)
New update at the bottom as my first round comes to a close.

SHORT REVIEW: It's absolutely incredible. It'll challenge the heck out of you. You should only do this if you're already in excellent shape or if you've completed P90X (which means you're in excellent shape). Beginners should stick with the first system. The new series, while not as accessible to the masses as the original due to the exotic moves and the plethora of extra gear required to maximize the effectiveness, is truly the most elite home fitness series I've ever tried (and still way cheaper than gym memberships and Bowflex machines). Yes, it's everything it was hyped to be (and probably more). You'll pretty much be able to don a cape and fight crime when this is all over.

LONG REVIEW: If you've read my review of P90X, you know that while I love the system, I've never been a "fanboy". I'm not a coach or involved with Beachbody in any way. I've never purchased any supplements or shakes. And the...

Good and Bad
Having worked through P90X and P90X+, P90X2 falls somewhere in between. There are some great points about P90X2 and some very bad--even dangerous--points about P90X2. I loved P90X and still think it's the best exercise program on the market. P90X+ was just a marketing program designed to sell more gear and videos, and it quickly died. Like P90X+, P90X2 is very much a marketing program designed to sell a lot of overpriced fitness equipment. In spite of what they advertise about the hotel workout, you cannot do P90X2 without a lot of gear. You need 3-4 medicine balls of various sizes (actually a couple of large ones, for balance purposes, as well as smaller ones for some lifting), and they need to be firm enough to support your weight. So the cheapie plastic ones won't do. Practically every exercise uses a stability ball, so that's a must have. You also need a lot of dumbbells. Bands are problematic, since it's hard to use a band on a stability ball. I'm not convinced the foam roller...

Big guy getting slender, getting muscular, feeling better!
I took a good look at myself about a year ago, and didn't like what I saw. I was embarrassed to wear most of my clothes; taking my shirt off at the beach was not going to happen--period. Heck, I could barely look at myself in the bathroom mirror. I had no neck. My belly was sticking out and sagging over. My fat fat pants were too tight. I couldn't find shirts that I could close the collar to wear a tie.

I had manboobs.

I hid myself behind big sweaters and oversized sweats. I am 5'6" and weighed about 225 lbs. I was exhausted going up a single flight of stairs to my bedroom. I have 3 active little boys, and they wanted to wrestle with papa. That was simply not going to happen either. Something had to give.

So I did the craziest thing I could have--I did Insanity, and loved it. I followed that with ...

Beyond Scared Straight, Season 1 (2 Discs)

Excellent show!
Right from the start, this show grips you in with the misbehavior of today's youth in America. A lot of the preteen/teens featured in the series stems from mostly a cry for attention, which a lot of their parents have not been providing to these children -- discipline and love. The teens are forced to go to a state prison as a wake up call to see how other inmates seem to live day in and out and understand the privileges they have now as a kid could be gone tomorrow with one bad decision. Most of the behavior is quite typical from teen to teen: drug abusers, drug dealers, violence, disrespecting their parents, expelled from school, promiscuous sex and runaways. The inmates are tough on them -- but it's what they need -- since something is lacking with the parents who aren't doing such in my opinion! Most of the teens correct their bad behavior by the end of each episode and understand they don't have to be badass to be viewed as cool or wanted by their other peers. Pretty good series...

awesome show
awesome dvd series i like it alot the social worker/counselor comes out in me when I watch this show Always

SHORT REVIEW: It's absolutely incredible (or at least feels like it will be, as I've only had it for a week). It'll challenge the heck out of you. P90X2 vs P90X and review
In this review, I am attempting to: (1) Review P90X2 and (2) compare P90X2 to the original P90X. I am not a Beachbody coach and I am in no way associated with Beachbody. Throughout the review, I refer to a guy named Tony. Tony Horton created the program and he is the lead trainer.

WHAT P90X2 IS NOT? When I purchased it, I assumed it was another P90X with better music. I was wrong. P90X left me sore every day for 90 days; P90X2 didn't because of the gradual increase through the phases. Don't get me wrong, I was sore but I remember limping around after Legs & Back and having trouble brushing my teeth the morning after doing the bicep workout. P90X2 is a more gradual approach that builds your core and muscular foundation for the next phase but it's not easier. P90X2 is more technically difficult. Each exercise seems to engage more body parts.

CARDIO: There is no specific cardio workout in the entire program it is based on strength, balance and speed. You will get...

Disappointing. Not what I expected at all.
Like others, I've completed multiple rounds of P90x, tried p90x plus, and even mixed in some one-on-one workouts (plyocide, medicine ball core cardio). I agree with most: P90x was great, P90x+ was largely a miss, and there are some gems in the one-on-one series.

I was very excited to get P90x2! I've been using a stability ball since my first round, and have been using medicine balls since medicine ball core cardio. After doing two weeks of P90x2 core, I decided to go through the other workouts because I was really missing the weightlifting aspect of P90X. Unfortunately - the thing I love the most, weight training, is the thing P90x2 offers the least of.

After evaluating all the workouts I elected to return X2. Even after such a long wait, it just wasn't designed with a direction that I agree with. Here are some of the reasons it didn't sit well with me:

1. It's almost entirely core/balance focused, with very little emphasis on actual weight lifting...

Tune Up Your Memory - Improve Your Memory Today

Excellent Memory Tips
I am very happy with Professor Straub's improving memory dvd. I ordered the DVD in the spring and it was extremely helpful. I normally don't bother giving reviews, but I wanted to say that since I have a fair memory at best this program helped me in school and at work. Professor Scott Straub does a great job showing how to use his memory technique for remembering large amounts of information. I will say that you have to put in a little time and energy, but it's worth it. The only suggestion I have is for Professor Straub to have physical book as I think this would help compliment his program.

Professor Scott Straub's Memory Program!
If you (or your child) is in college or High School, you will really enjoy this program. Not only does it help you memorize more information in less time, there are dynamite study tips included will definitely help your grades. If you don't want to put in any effort, then this program (or any other program for that matter) won't help you, but Professor Straub's DVD gets right to the point which makes it easy to follow and learn from.

Best of Celebrity Ghost Stories: Strange Encounters (2 Discs)

Best of Celebrity Ghost Stories DVD
A pretty classy show from A&E/Biography Channel featuring familiar celebrities (TV/movie actors & actresses, directors, musicians, models, etc.) that you have actually heard of or at least recognize, describing their own personal supernatural experiences. The re-enactments/re-creations of their stories are often very creepy and are done with high production value.

As for this best-of dvd, it is a 2-dvd set with 8 of the better episodes from the series:

1) Joan Rivers, David Carradine, Scott Baio, Teri Polo
2) Carrie Fisher, Rue McClanahan, John Waters, Frederico Castelluccio
3) Ali Landry, Gina Gershon, Ernie Hudson, Kelly Carlson, Anson Williams
4) Michael Imperioli, Joan Collins, Donna D'Errico, Corey Feldman
5) Jermaine Jackson, Karina Smirnoff, Diane Ladd, Dave Foley
6) Daryl Hannah, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Shanna Moakler, Marilyn Manson
7) Vince Neil, Charisma Carpenter, Cynthia Rowley, Orlando Jones
8) Shelley Long, Daniel...

Great story telling, chilling, spooky, down right scary
Very highly recommended ,very well narrated by movie stars, popular rockstars, and comedians, who tell the true life ghostly experiences,in some very scary, chilling, and spooky stories,,, very well done and well worth to see and buy, mike

Like listening to a good ghost story around a camp-fire!

P90X2: The Next P90X DVD Series Ultimate Kit

Very different from the original
I recently completed a round of P90x2, and I love it. I actually like this a lot more than the original version. Since most people who are considering this have already been exposed to P90x, I will highlight some of the differences for you.

1) Like P90x, it is a three phase program. The big key for me in X2 is there is more variety. For example, in P90x aside from the recovery week you did the same legs and back workout every week. In x2, the only program you do more than one month is the plyometrics workout. That is in phases I and II, but not in III. There is a recovery and mobility DVD that you can also use on your rest days.

2) X2 yoga is much better. It takes all the good stuff from the original p90x yoga, but compresses it into 61 min as opposed to 90 minutes. It flows much better, and I never found myself getting bored or wishing it would stop.

3) Foam rolling is awesome. In P90x you had a stretching DVD that you could use on your rest...

Great workout
I've really enjoyed the P90X2. I never tried P90X and was a bit worried about starting out on 2. It has done wonders for me. It is nice just using the videos and not have an instructor breathing down your neck making you work out.

Thumbs up from me.

P90X2 vs P90X
I won't break down the DVDs for either P90X or P90X2, and I don't care who you are, P90X has something to offer. Any routine has something to offer, whatever you put IN to it. For me P90X introduced the concepts of plyometrics, set breaks and yoga. Tony is initially entertaining but he does get old after a while, especially when you can recite along word for word, but hey, that's the reason they have the Music & Cues option for audio. So now we have P90X TWO. I got it, and I must say, I'm still not sure I heart it as much as the original. Tony seems more serious this time, maybe because of all the online complaints that he was a cheeseball? There are some new concepts Post-Activation-Potentiation, foam rolling for recovery, and no more regimented phases, you break when YOU want to. Do I like the new concepts, meh...can I maybe gain something from? Surely. I even think the production value is down from last time, I'm not sure though. Maybe it's just me being resistant to change. Power of Claw: A Complete Course in Clawhammer

Just what you expect from Steve Baughman
Love clawhammer as it is such a powerful technique. You get so much sound out of so little work.

Steve covers the technique very nicely in this DVD but it is certainly not for the novice guitarist. You need to be prepared to play around with the technique and try stuff out yourself to fully understand clawhammer. The only thing I would have liked is slightly more in depth Tabs. Steve plays some variations of the main tunes (eg. Wasilla Weed) that aren't totally covered in the Tabs.

Great Technique Instruction
Steve is a great teacher of this Clawhammer method and its variations. In each "Lay Of The Land" part he says "..now watch what my left hand is doing...." with abbreviated chords D or D7 and the camera angle makes it's a little difficult to see his hammer ons and pull offs. Steve is excellent in explaining all of this I will be reviewing these sections a lot. A GREAT instructional DVD! If you are interested in this technique get this video, it's concise and fun to learn. Thank You Steve.

The Claw's the Thing
Hello, my name is James and I'm a Travis picking addict. Luckily, I've admitted that I have a problem, and part of my rehab includes Steve Baughman's "The Power of Claw." This is an excellent instructional DVD that has presented me with rhythmic possibilities I would not have imagined had I stayed in alternating bass purgatory. It will also force you to improve your left hand technique, particularly hammer-ons and pull-offs. I've wanted to develop a style that combines Celtic and twang, but something was missing, and I think it was clawhammer. I'm also a player who's never felt comfortable with a pick, so I'm always on the lookout for alternatives to using a pick that would create a similar driving type of sound. Clawhammer gives you that. Steve's instruction is detailed and well thought out, and his screen presence is very watchable. Plus, I could listen to him play all day.

Basic Earthbag Building

Basic Earthbag Building
This book has everything the beginning and intermediate earthbag builder needs, it goes over several very important steps in ensuring your build is successful. In today's world everyone thinks that because they watched a YouTube video on a family building an earthbag home that they are now earthbag building masters, this is simply not the case, Owens knowledge is from years of solid building methodology as he in collaboration with other proven innovators in natural building have laid the foundations for how we build today.

Owen Geiger, former Director of Builders Without Borders and Founder and Director of the Geiger Research Institute of Sustainable Building and the Natural Building Blog, has offered one of the best earthbag basics DVD's there is, it is clear and concise and provides exactly what is entitled, solid information without all the Hollywood effects and budget.

I solidly trust Dr. Geiger's work and teaching methods and know that my hard earned money...

Just what it says it is
This is a basic earthbag building guide, which is exactly what the title says. This is for the folks that learn visually as opposed to what they can read online. It puts all of the information scattered across the internet and explains the simple concept in visual depth. Dr. Owen Geiger is a great instructor and I would consider him a philanthropist for all he does on the natural building blog. A wealth of information is shared there.
Basics are something that many people can understand when read, but until they SEE it in action, are scared to take the first step. This video helps those souls to get out there and make a move!

A Must Have!
If you are considering building an earth bag building, this DVD is one you definitely want to watch first. It has great step by step instructions. Owen is a great resource in the field and this DVD is well worth the price for the valuable information he delivers. He has the most complete guides to building an earth bag structure that I have seen so far.

P90X2: The Next P90X DVD Series Deluxe Kit

You'll end up purchasing all the equipment anyway.
ABOUT THE DELUXE KIT:
Your probably going to end up purchasing all of the extra stuff anyway. So it makes sense to get all of it at the same time. Think of it this way, once you have it you'll have no excuse for not working out. In addition, to really maximize the P90X2 program the extra equipment is necessary. I was skeptical but it really does make a difference.

The Deluxe Kit comes with:
Two (2) 8 lb medicine balls (you do actually need two).
One PREMIUM stability ball.
One foam roller.
V SCULPT (Video)
X2 CHEST + SHOULDERS + TRIS (Video)

The price for the P90X2 Base Kit on Amazon is $139.80 and the Deluxe Kit on Amazon is $274.60. So your paying $139.80 more for the Deluxe Kit. If you purchased the P90X2 base kit for $139.80 and the additional equipment on Amazon for $117.01 the total comes to $256.81. However, you don't get the two extra videos which primarily focus on your upper body. If you don't already own the extra...

Huge disappointment.
After completing P90X and Insanity, I was excited to learn that there was a P90X2 to keep my home fitness program going, and to (ideally) maintain the toned physique I developed after completing the other programs. Whereas a few of the workouts in this program are decent (especially the core workouts), the overall regiment did not offer the balance of total body fitness that I found in both P90X and Insanity. These videos are all about an hour, but after you factor out the stretching and warm-ups that don't do a lot to get the heart pumping in my opinion, and the "foam rolling" that does't really do much for me at all either, there is really only about 30 minutes of exercises before the cool-down. I found this program to be more focused strength training (upper body) and on crazy stunts that require a person to invest in a bunch of equipment rather than to offer anything of realistic exercise value, (for example, the "Impossible--Possible" that has you balancing your...

Devil May Cry: The Complete Series S.A.V.E. [Blu-ray]

Devil May Cry
This is a great action packed anime series, Dante a wisecracking tall hot white haired half human half demon who is addicted to and loves strawberry sundeas and lives on pizza modern day devil hunter who ironically hunts and kills demons. His weapons are his two guns Ebony and Ivory are always kept loaded and ready, a really cool long gothic looking sword Rebellion he carries on his back, and his amazing martial arts fighting skills is given strange cases to work on

In the first ep he is assigned to take care of and escort a young girl Patty the heiress to a fortune to the reading of the will and along the way she is hunted by demons that Dante protects her from. One part I think that people will like in ep 1 is while Dante is driving her to the will reading he pulls the girls hat down over her eyes then with his gun kills the demon that is about to kill her while it is holding on to the side of a moving truck without stopping his car I personally found that to be freaking...

Missing 1 Thing!
The show is awesome but it's missing one very important thing, Dante never ever Devil Triggers! I thought this show would be like the game where in tough times, Dante will need to show his true form and that's when he transforms himself to demon mode. I don't know why they didn't do that. It was a very big part of the game and it was awesome to do. Heck, even in Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Dante can devil trigger and that give him more power, speed, etc.

It wasn't like they didn't know about it either. They had Dante enemies turn into Demon form, and that gave them more power, but Dante himself didn't do it. And, they were very much like Dante, half human and all. Does that mean he couldn't do it? Does that mean he didn't know how to? Does that mean, he didn't need it because he cocky like that? I don't know because it doesn't show or explain this at all.

I thought at the very end of the series that...okay...maybe, just maybe, this will be the moment. He going to do...

I really got into this.
This is one of the few series I really got into. A half-human, half-demon named Dante who goes around killing evil demons with the aid of two gun totting female demon hunters. The action is well done and the characters are well developed. I enjoyed the interaction between the two demon hunters and Dante, especially the one who used to be his side kick. I highly encourage anyone who likes this style of anime to get this series.

BluScenes: The Fractal Plane 1080p Blu-ray Disc

Swirling and Psychedelic!
This dvd has great swirling psychedelic patterns and nice music. It's great fun to have on in the background. The music is enough to add a positive energy but without being distracting. Highly recommended.

Seductive
This is the fourth fractal DVD I've purchased. Without question the best so far. Good pattern transition and color. The only negative aspect of this composition is that the images move too fast if you wish to select your own music such as New Age or Classical. For example, it's a great fractal to watch to the soundtrack of the movie "Artificial Intelligence", but is best viewed with the Blue-ray player set to the fastest slow speed possible. The frame-to-frame flicker associated with slow-speed play is tolerable.

Beautiful
This DVD is beautiful and mesmerizing, especially with the sound on. The sound is industrial/techno, which is like, but the DVD also produces a beautiful piece of moving art, without the sound. The BluRay is fantastic, so bright and crisp. Very cool indeed!

Big Love: The Complete Fifth Season

Big Love for Big Love
In a very a parallel way, Sister Wives, a current reality show about a polygamous family presents us with a family who choose to live their lives in the open. Unlike the Hendrickson's however, the patriarch of the family did not run for public office nor have a business that depends on public support.

This final season of Big Love was much better than the cartoonish and improbable episodes from Season 4. It takes a very dramatic turn towards the reality of their lives and there is no longer anything remotely humorous except dead on issues that can no longer be run away from. It's mostly about Senator Bill Hendrickson's refusal to put his religion in the closet. While he has noble intentions, the political, financial and emotional toll it takes on his family is overwhelming. This is also the season of self realization for all three wives, no longer able to do just what's best for their family but to meet their own individual spiritual, emotional and intellectual growth...

Satisfying Concluding Season to Series
Polygamy works for our lead character Bill. It also works for his three wives and his children. They consider themselves law abiding, family oriented, god centered people. Thus, Bill wants to come out of the shadows and be accepted for what he is, a polygamist. Thus, this final season is primarily a tragedy on Shakespearean levels because he and his family can never be accepted in this country for what they are. This is because even though they live in the most religiously tolerant nation in the world, which also confers the greatest personal freedoms upon its citizens, that county can never allow polygamy to come out of the shadows because it is against our law.

Utah was permitted to enter the union only if it ended the practice. And it is clear why the country insisted on this: it is a nation of laws and too many legal problems are potentially created by polygamy, especially for a modern society which confers equal rights and responsibilities upon its citizens...

Season 5 somewhat of a disappointment
We have watched this series via Amazon instant video all the way from Season 1 through the season 5 season. We're certainly enjoyed the series....but this final year (season 5) was somewhat of a disappointment. It was very "dark" and while I'm glad we watched it to see how things end....it's not a very satisfying ending season. It's not that I think every TV show needs a happy ending...but there are so many ways the writers could have gone which in my opinion would have been more satisfying and less "dark". While watching season 5 it was like you were forced to carry around a 50 pound cement block while watching....it was heavy, dark and ended up with far to many loose ends for our tastes.

The Lucy Show: The Official Fifth Season

MUSICALS & MOD BRING LUCY AN EMMY!
At the start of Season 5, Lucy was contemplating about selling Desilu Productions. At age 55, Lucy decided that she still loved performing, but at this age could easily give up the enormous responsibility and stress of running an entire production studio on top of acting and producing her own show. With the thought of selling Desilu this season, Lucy's focus was on the shows more than the previous years. Her focus on the great musical numbers and great guest stars really paid off, as Lucy won her first Emmy for The Lucy Show as Best Actress in a Comedy Series. Lucy had won Emmy's twice earlier in her career in 1953 for Best Comedienne and in 1956 for Best Actress in a Continuing Performance for the beloved I Love Lucy Series. Gale Gordon was also nominated for an Emmy this year for Best Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series, but lost to Don Knotts return to The Andy Griffith Show. This Season of The Lucy Show held a solid 4th place in the Nielsen ratings for the year.

""The Lucy Shows" Keep Coming!!!!
Standing by their word that all 6 seasons of the beloved 1960's sitcom "The Lucy Show" would become available in its entirety, CBS/Paramount has just announced "The Lucy Show-Season 5" comes to DVD December 6, 2011 just in time for Christmas in a 4 disc set! This leaves just one more full season left before the entire library of "Lucy Show" episodes will be made available for posterity for legions of Lucille Ball fans to enjoy.

Season 5 (1966-1967) finally gave Lucille Ball an Emmy win as Best Actress in a Comedy after three nominations. This would be followed yet by another win in "The Lucy Show's" final year.

22 episodes were made and have been restored in pristine condition and are in beautiful color. The rarely seen "jack-in-the-box" opening of this season is shown during the first 10 episodes. During the summer of 1966 Lucille Ball ordered that there be a new opening. When the series premiered, without seeing the opening beforehand, she was mortified and...

I Can Finally Toss All Those Cheap Public Domain Sets Out the Window!
This is Carol Butler's writing this review. Finally, after countless times of buying the public domain episodes, with some companies having varying quality prints of the episodes, I can now get rid of them! Some of those public domain prints are so damaged, they're almost unwatchable. The worst quality episode is "Lucy and Carol in Palm Springs". Half of the prints look like they were just left on the floor and had been stepped on countless times, and nothing has been done to fix them in any way.

These episodes have also been seen on many low power TV stations throughout the years, and sometimes, they look even worse on TV!

It will be so nice to see these episodes from what is most likely the most popular season among fans of the show in pristine quality, and in their entirety, without splices and lines in the film.

I can't wait 'til this is released, and it will be just in time for Christmas!

Going My Way - The Complete Series - 30 Episodes!

The way it used to be
When I saw that this series from the early 1960's had been issued as a DVD set, I immediately ordered it. I really didn't remember much about it, but I'm a big fan of Gene Kelly, who never fails to disappoint. In this series, he brings his usual charm and easygoing personality to the role of Father O'Malley (the role Bing Crosby had made his own in the original film version). Leo G. Carroll is a surprise as the elderly pastor, Father Fitzgibbon. Who knew that he could take on an Irish brogue, dance a jig, and sing a delightful Irish tune? I didn't remember Dick York at all from the series when it was first on TV, but he is believable in the role of the youth center director (a role not in the film). I love this series for portraying a simpler time in a manner that just lets one sit back, relax, and enjoy. It's gentle and loving. How different from today's TV fare!

Good family show
Never heard of this series before it was tagged as an Amazon recommendation based on my prior purchases. Decided to give it a try and have been pleasantly surprised at the heart-warming stories. All the characters are believable and there is a good mixture of drama, humor and pathos. Good life lessons as well.

Going My Way_the Complete Series-30 Episodes
Love adding this particular series to my video collection -rare series that's not likely to come one's way anytime in the near future.Continues the adventures of Father O'Malley & Father/monsignor Fitzgibbons.

Big Love: The Complete Series

Five Big Seasons, One Great Show: A Great Box Set For Newbies, But Nothing New If You Own Individual Seasons
Quick take: If you own the other four seasons on DVD, just buy the fifth independently.

Long take: For five glorious (and sometimes frustrating) seasons, HBO's "Big Love" took polygamy family drama to new heights. While not always perfect, this show boasted some of the strongest and most underrated performances that you're likely to encounter and challenged the conventions of familial obligations and acceptance. As a long time fan, I recognize that the show could be uneven. I'm not one of those people who think that as long as you like or watch a show, it automatically ranks as five stars. Different seasons can vary in quality, and while "Big Love" had its share of growing pains--it never lacked heart or conviction. Playing with diverse elements including family drama, comedy, suspense, politics, religion, and everything in between--the show became benchmark must-see television as a savvy and sophisticated adult soap opera.

I'm not going to dissect the...

Plygamous Addiction
I love this show, the boxed set contains the complete series, all 5 seasons and if you've never seen the show before because you weren't interested, didn't have the time, or didn't have HBO (like me), you should youtube clips and see that this show is awesome. Funny, dramatic, happy, chaotic and brings real life into a fictitious storyline. Mothers juggling work, school, children and a husband. Bickering couples and the ups and down we women face. Times of happiness, depression, questions of faith and the afterlife, religion. Politics, religion, and state where do they seperate and draw the line? It's a lovely chaotic crazy life, Big Love <3 I have lots of love for this show.

High quality box set, but no new DVD material

The Lucy Show: Seasons 1-5

Loving Lucy
I own all the "I Love Lucy" seasons and have enjoyed them...so, I knew I just had to get the "Lucy Show" DVDs. Very fun!! I had not watched regular TV for three weeks, instead I have been watching the "Lucy Show" DVDs. If you loved Lucy before, you will love her again in "The Lucy Show."

Great Buy For Classic Sitcom
If you haven't already purchased seasons one thru five of "The Lucy Show" I would recommend to buy all five seasons. It's a great buy. You'll get five seasons for $20.39 each. That's a lot cheaper that the individual seasons. It's classic Lucy and Lucy has never been better.

The First Lady of Television in her second incarnation
The Lucy Show came about when Desilu Studios was struggling with keeping the TV shows they produced on the air since a majority of them got cancelled. So, they asked Lucille Ball to do another TV series and it turned out to be a huge hit with ratings for each season being through the roof. It spawned six seasons and lasted from 1962 to 1968 and I'm so glad that CBS DVD (distributed by Paramount) decided to release all five seasons on DVD because before that, there were only 30 episodes available on DVD (2 from the first season, 21 from the fifth season and 7 from the sixth season). Since it just wasn't enough, they remastered all of the episodes, found their vintage elements such as cast commercials and sponsors from when the show was in first-run broadcasts and released The Lucy Show on DVD from July 13, 2009 to December 6, 2011 and may I say that this was a wise move on their part because not only did it please Ball's longtime fans, but it offered more than the original DVDs did. The Simpsons: The Fourteenth Season (Limited Collector's Edition with Molded Head)

The world is normal, again.
Whew! After the 20th season debacle, I thought it was all over.

In the 14th season DVD, there is commentary on every episode. Though only four episodes have Matt Groening, each episode has at least seven people commenting with one episode containing 12. Guests Joe Mantegna, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Tony Hawk, Mark Hoppus, Scott Thompson and David Byrne join the regular writers, animators, directors and cast during the commentaries. In fact, there are noticeably more visits from the cast in these commentaries (no Harry Shearer or Julie Kavner, though).

While the storylines and jokes may be a tad weaker, the 14th season is the first season to utilize digital animation and coloring, abandoning cels, ink and paint, so the overall LOOK of the show is different, probably better and crisper.

Homer also is stupider than in previous season with some gags falling flat, making one wonder if Homer is too stupid/less funny in this season. However, remember that in...

Surprisingly Good For A Late Season!
As I've seen the quality of The Simpsons decline over the previous two seasons, I was very hesitant to buy season 14. I had not seen these episodes before, as i do not have/watch broadcast/cable TV. Being desperate to get a fix of one of my favorite shows, I ordered S14 not expecting much. To my surprise, the quality of this season is an improvement over the last 2 seasons- and a big improvement over season 13.
The commentaries (one of my favorite features of the DVDs- and alone worth buying the DVDs for) are again relevant and entertaining (In S13, they seemed like they had stopped caring and had run out of steam...but thankfully, these commentaries on S14 are as good as ever).
This was the first year they went digital, as far as the actual animation goes...and I have to say, that it looks great. While this season may still not be up to the standards of seasons 2-10, it is definitely getting back on track. The absurd plots of the last few seasons are gone; The...

Out in the Silence: Extended Edition [Blu-ray]

Documentary; very real and serious topics with honest interviews.
Although the DVD version is probably fine, I bought the more expensive Blu-Ray version to support the film makers and the efforts they and others are putting in to stop bullying and discrimination caused by ignorance and bigotry. The movie itself was done well. It was often tough to see what the main character, the teenager CJ Bills, was going through across the time this was filmed. As so many millions of us know, his fight for survival and dignity was and unfortunately still is in many places what life is like, despite the great progress that has been made in anti-discriminatory laws and education.

There are also some good people appearing in the movie, some such as Reverend Mark and Diana Micklos, who show what it is like to be Christians limited by human shortcomings that can be trancended by God's love. It's a good documentary which shows a town struggle with different beliefs. Many citizens nonetheless succeed in fostering a sense of community and inclusion...

RuPaul's Drag Race: Season 2 (3 Discs)

LOGO Explains the Lack of Season 1
Just like everyone else, I was ecstatic to see these shows finally get a DVD release. But just like everyone else, I had some questions I wanted answered before purchasing. Rather than freaking out and spamming the comments with "WHERE'S SEASON 1?!?!?!?", I decided to go straight to the source and ask the team over at RuPaul's Drag Race directly, via Facebook. These were my questions, and these were their answers:

Me: "Is Season 1 coming to DVD as well? And are the "Untucked!" episodes included with the Season 2 & 3 DVD's?"

LOGO: "Hi doll, lucite heels are clear, but some of our music for season one couldn't be cleared. Untucked isn't on the DVDs but lots of extras."

So understand ladies and ladyboys, they did try to put Season 1 on DVD, but licensing the music (probably Destiny's Child) was probably a bit too expensive. But don't be sad, Amazon sells all of Season 1 digitally, so at least you can own it in some form.

A Refreshing Addition to Gay Culture
Although I am a gay man, for so long I found it difficult to swallow that gay culture existed. Our social group seems to be obsessed with sex and superficial squandering. And in a time when ultra-masculinity is the new moustache, nothing feels exciting or refreshing anymore. I understand being different is difficult and folks want to fit in and show the world the gays can be just like everyone else, but when did we stop expressing our authentic selves?

Enter Drag Race. Start with Project Runway . . . toss in a little Tyra, a lot of humor, and finish with a ton of sass. That's the show. The contestants have a new challenge every week, each progressively tougher, and in the end the "Next Drag Superstar" is crowned. The production value increases from Season One and there are more and better contestants. You'll definitely find one hell of an entertaining ride here.

I grew up watching drag queens perform in the gay bars, and to be honest I found them a bit...

I heart Raven (and Juju & Pandora)
How can you pass up the season that bore Jujubee, Raven, and Pandora Boxx? Three of the best queens in the game, this season is OVUH.

All of the discs have the options for audio adjustment 2.0, 5.1, 7.1 and looping the scenes as well. All the video is 1080p and the natural scenes are REAL videos not computer generated, which is kind of nice. Definitely worth it!

Wagner

Richard Burton Scores Again
A beautiful tribute to arguably one of the most accomplished artists of all times. The Ring is probably the most complete work of art ever accomplished by any artist in any genre.

WAGNER, Richard Burton as
Excellent film... who but Richard Burton to play the Great Richard Wagner?
Nice also to see Sir John Gielgud and Sir Ralph Richardson. Those who have studied Wagner, will see a lot of modern political views at play in this lovely film but his music is so refined that one is able to enjoy his majestic music dramas, despite the usual attempted character assasination. This film is worthy of recommendation to all who appreciate Wagner and his music and able to distinguish fact from excessive distorted fiction. All in the fascinating power that Wagner evokes to all, friend or foe.

A must have for any Wagner lover
This film is absolutely fascinating and very well done. The sound is great. The picture quality is great. If you love Wagner, buy it now!

Revolutionary Girl Utena: Apocalypse Saga Box Set 3 Limited Edition

Awesome
I absolutely love this last boxset as it has the nicest booklet yet with plenty of interviews, lineart drawings and pictures of the Japanese cast. The picture quality is really clean just like in the previous two boxsets. This set has six DVDs with four of them being committed to the series finale, one for the movie and one for extras. The extras are quite nice as it includes extras for both the TV series and Adolescence of Utena. The TV series extras includes interviews, karaoke, in Japanese, animated art boards and more. The movie extras includes behind the scenes, Japanese remastered DVD boxset movie spoiler spot and some trailers. Overall, it's pretty nice as I always enjoy cast interviews and behind the scenes stuff. The only bad thing is they didn't remaster the extras. Overall, I'm very happy with all three boxsets as this is a must have for any Utena fan. The only thing that could have made this set even nicer is if they could have somehow added an interview with Rachel...

Beautiful set, equally beautiful series.
I watched Revolutionary Girl Utena for the first time about 11 years ago on VHS. When Central Park Media released it on DVD about eight years ago, I bought all the DVDs and watched the series again. Recently, I stumbled on these remastered, "Limited Edition" boxed sets for Utena. I wasn't sure if I wanted to take the plunge and re-purchase what I already owned - however, to those who were in the same position as I was, just do it! As of this review, Amazon is offering these box sets at an incredibly low price. If I could have seen into the future, I would have held off on buying those overpriced CPM DVDs... but, I guess that's just more Utena on my shelf.

After the bankruptcy and liquidation of CPM, many feared that Utena would be out of print indefinitely. Fortunately, RightStuf/Nozomi has stepped in and released these box sets. The box sets are beautiful and the picture quality is a cut above the Central Park version. Furthermore, the sound, now in 5.1, is far clearer and...

Worth the Fifty Bucks
I was not expecting, when I purchased this set, for the movie to come along with it. I was expecting to have to buy a regular copy of the movie, which wouldn't be remastered the same way as the show. Lovely surprise!

Let's talk about the show for a minute -- you have not seen Utena until you have seen a full remaster. Already visually stunning, going from these discs to uploads of the episodes online, even my old DVDs, there's such an intense difference in color quality that old versions are just depressing to watch.

Fascinating cinematic realization of Schoenberg's problematic masterpiece
Arnold Schoenberg admitted that his stage direction was unrealizable and gave up any hope of seeing the opera staged. After all, where are we going to find an illusionist-tenor who can perform three biblical miracles on stage? How about staging Four Naked Virgins copulating with the Golden Calf? Even though I generally prefer opera staged instead of filmed, in this case the film version at least has a legitimate claim as a viable alternative. This alternative is here brilliantly realized by the legendary filmmaking duo Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet.

Anyone who knows anything about this duo's films will notice their signature characteristics here: frequent long and immobile shots, rigid and "geometric" camera movements, rigorous and intellectual style etc.. This is not a film for entertainment, nor was it intended to be. For example, even the orgy scene is shot from a certain emotional distance, composed with stylized movements and frames. This austere...

ONE CINEMATIC ANSWER TO SCHOEBERG'S QUESTION
I had an opportunity to view this film of Schoenberg's elusive and problematic opera on a theatre screen way back in the late 1970s. As an undergrad music student, I took it upon myself to attend the Art Institute of Chicagos series of opera on film, and this was one of the offerings. Unfamiliar with both the opera and its music, I recall this as being an alien experience, one that would require a second hearing/viewing. The recording used as the soundtrack was released on records/CDs (on Phillips) and I was able to better acquaint myself with Schoenberg's score. My memory of the film is less acute, but I remember the visual approach as minimalist, timeless in a Pasolini-type mode, and with very little movement, perhaps the better to call more attention to the complicated score rather than opulent visuals (the director could have gone "crazy" in depicting the golden calf orgy, but that is avoided). This is usually NOT the approach of opera on film (rather than a filmed staged...

Beware!
I hope that this DVD edition might solve a problem that haunts every single presentation of this movie: it is pitched almost a 4th above of the original opera pitch!
Even for listeners with no perfect pitch, the experience of G. Reich voice sounding like a tenor would be a frustrating one!

The Tall Man - Complete TV Series - All 75 Episodes!

Ahead Of Its Time
In the heyday of the Western, prime time on the small screen was one oater after another. Each tried hard to stand out. Sometimes it was the gimmick of a special gun. THE RIFLEMAN had his Winchester with a large loop and a metal spur. In WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE it was a Mare's Leg. In JOHNNY RINGO it was a LeMat revolver that also shot a shotgun shell. Some shows had unusual music. WYATT EARP, with its barbershop quartet. SHOTGUN SLADE with, of all things, a jazz theme.

Then there were the 'sidekick' shows. Wild Bill Hickok and Jingles. The Cisco Kid and Pancho. The Lone Ranger and Tonto. Many shows had an older lawman/scout/investigator/you-name-it who taught an inexperienced protege the ropes.

Which brings us to THE TALL MAN. In this one the experienced lawman is none other than Pat Garrett, and the youth he tries so hard to bring around to the good side of the law is Billy the Kid. And in this regard, it's unique. Because the dynamic between the...

Timeless Does It Again
A great box set and all 75 episodes are in great quality. Much better than the awful M-SQUAD set they came out with a couple years ago. In fact, the picture quality appears to be from Universal direct, which owns the rights to the series. And the price being about 50 cents an episode is a bargain. I remember paying $20 for a VHS video with three, half-hour episodes. Guest stars on these will surprise you. I saw Martin Landau in two episodes, Leonard Nimoy in two episodes, I counted Kermit Maynard in at least five of them, Andy Clyde in five or six, George Kennedy and George Macready even make appearances. Recommended for people who love TV Westerns guest appearances from celebrities who later became famous.

The Tall Man - the Complete Series
I remember as a small child in the early 1960s watching The Tall Man; it still holds up quite well after nearly 50 years. I find it remarkable that they were able to present a coherent and interesting story in only half an hour, less time for commercials. Clu Gulager is an excellent Billy the Kid, very believable and lots of fun. Watch for the antics of the incorrigible McBean and his miscreant daughters; in one episode they steal Pat's horse and then make a complete monkey out of Billy, stealing his horse and taking his gun, leaving him tied up. If you like old westerns, this one is well worth the money, especially compared to the dreck which is presented by the networks nowadays.

Kekkaishi Set 3

More Action and Emotion Than Ever
The Ayakashi from Kokuboro have decided to launch an all out attack on Karasumori. The failing health of their Princess has left them little time to act. Now, Yoshimori, Tokine, and Gen must fight for their lives against the most powerful Ayakashi in the world. The battle is fierce, and it seems that the Kekkaishi have no chance. They are spared from death by the sacrifice of a great hero.

This is another great volume. All of the events that took place in the previous episodes have led up to this volume. I had gotten used to a sort of light hearted vibe from this series. This set was not that way at all. I didn't expect so much emotion from this series. I think that this is the best volume yet. The characters really come to life and shine. This series keeps getting better. I'm looking forward to volume 4.

Anime was Good
its came in good condition with no problem it is an excellent anime and it was amazing to watch and see

kekkaishi
great show starts off a little slow but picks up and ends pretty ok. if your looking for a good time filler you got a winner

RuPaul's Drag Race: Seasons 2 & 3

ripped off
I bought this set thinking I was getting a great deal Well instead I received all of season 3 as nd only one disc of promised 4 of season 2 the case wasn't even built for multiple disks and of course Amazon was conveniently "out of stock" and even though they had plenty of season 2 available they wouldn't just replace that season only gave me the option of returning both seasons with no promise of having them available for new purchase or a credit of 8.50$ u failed me Amazon and basically ripped me off thanx sashay away

Best Purchase in a Long Time
I'm a die hard Drag Race fan, and who can beat spending less than $50 for 2 seasons of one of the greatest shows on tv? The discs are great, the content is great (along with the included bonus material).

The only complaint that I have at all is that for some reason, in season 3 (all of the content is uncensored), when Ru announces the challenge as "Drag Queens in Outerspace: Return to Uranus", it's entirely mute and you just see Ru's mouth moving. Kind of odd, but if that's my only complaint, it must be a great product.

Brilliant show, missing "Untucked"
I love this show. It's probably the best thing on television and certainly head and shoulders above any other reality competition program. I'm exceedingly glad to own seasons 2 & 3 on DVD (Where's season 1?!!) but do feel a bit slighted by the lack of popular behind-the-scenes aftershow "Untucked" on this DVD release.

The Falcon Mystery Movie Collection; Volume 1 (3 Discs)

Two Falcons for the price of one
I pre-ordered this the moment I saw it offered, and, for the most part, was quite happy with this release.
Being a grumpy you know what, though,I must complain about the drawbacks.
Warner archives is charging full DVD prices for no frills DVD-R releases that have absolutely no extras and can't even bother to put a Falcon themed menu on the discs, either.
A static shot of the Warner Bros. lot is on all these archive discs.
The retail price of $44.99 is outrageous for DVD-R and I wouldn't have touched it if not for the much more reasonable Amazon price.
The discs are also not burned very well.
Disc one and two are dual layer (disc 3 has only one film,so I assume it is a DVD 5)and have scratches and also show signs of being burned at multiple speeds, which can sometimes cause playback problems.
Is there even any quality control on these archive discs,or do they crank them out as fast as humanly possible?
Three of the seven films have 'sticking' problems...

Oh my! And I really wanted to love these. Save the packaging too!
I've seen these movies many times and love them all. But I must very reluctantly agree with other reviewers these are mediocre prints of very, very good 40's detective movies. From WB yet! I was hoping for some outstanding cleaned up and stabilized discs. No such luck. Not much more to say. Oh yes...keep your packaging material there was only one disc in the box (yes they shorted me a disc, I can't believe the sloppiness, as I said...from WB yet!!). Well I won't be buying any more that look and feel like this rendition. I wonder if they outsourced the manufacture and the OEM just doesn't care?

DVD-R junk!
I was initially excited to see this (and the companion release, the Saint films with George Sanders) - they really are great fun from a bygone era of clever and classy, low-key mystery movies - but I groaned out loud when I saw that they were not just DVD-R junk, but dual-layer DVD-R junk at that. Warner should know that the many true fans already have DVD-R's (made from TV broadcasts) of all of these films, and based on the one Warner Archive DVD-R I've seen, homemade DVD-R's are hands-down better than the ones Warner is trying to sell - for one thing, it's been my experience that homemade DVD-R's will play on any device, while Warner's DVD-R's seem to play only in dedicated DVD players of the type one hooks up to a television. Truly, Warner - like Sony, Sears Craftsman, etc., amazes me with their moronic quest for brand dilution by making junk rather than quality products befitting their good name. I know something of the DVD business, and I assure you that they are saving pretty...

Sniper: Deadliest Missions

Recounts the Extraordinary True Exploits of Some of the Greatest Snipers in History
I watched this program three or four times now since it first appeared on the History Channel, and was simply enthralled every time I watched it. The producers did a fine job in presenting the true-life stories of various snipers throughout history and narrated various historical incidents where snipers made seemingly impossible shots during various conflicts from the Revolutionary War to Vietnam and our current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Several snipers including; Chuck Mawhinney, Rob Furlong, and several others, recounted some of their own experiences behind the scope and their deadliest missions they undertook as a sniper. Fascinating stories that will literally have you on the edge of your seat.

Now this is not a technical video to teach you the art of sniping, but a historical and informational video to give you a glimpse behind the curtain into the world of the sniper. This is definitely a video that you must own if you are at all interested in the art of the...

Interesting stories.
For the lovers of snipper stories it is simply the best.
A praise to Carlos Hathcock and his unique ability.
Recommend without a doubt.

Great Documentary!
Love this DVD, great gift for any shooter! This DVD tells the amazing stories/re-enactment of the long range shots that formed our history!
Thanks!

Bleach Uncut Box Set 11

Filler Box Set
Skip this boxset.
I own every boxset and movie except for this one and Fade to Black.

Honestly, try and find the few episodes related to the Souske Aizen story line on the begging of this set on Adult Swim.

The episodes about Youricio are stupid and boring. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
If Viz would make the boxset 5-6 discs long like they used to for about 40$, then it wouldn't be bad. But this is just stealing your money.

Filler & not Widescreen
First off, this is a filler arc that isn't worth buying seeing how it does not even slightly contribute tot he over all story like the Bount arc. Also, this set is not in widescreen. These episodes originally aired in 16:9 in japan and were cut down to 4:3 for Adult Swim. When the box said uncut and orignal, they must be referring to the Adult Swim tv releases and not the actual orignal episodes.

In addition to all that, there's nothing special to the box, not even a cardboard sleeve.

Not the best but still enjoyable
To start off I will admit that this season is not as good as the main Aizen/Espada Arc. However, this is only because the main story line of Bleach is so epic. This season revolves around a princess from the soul society that Ichigo has to protect from evil ninjas. At the same time the 3rd Squad's captain is replaced by a strange new Soul Reaper. I won't delve into the story to much but it really isn't bad. There is a lot of action and I personally enjoyed the head Ninja. It isn't the best season of Bleach but I liked it better than the Bount Arc. It is worth taking the time to watch and it should hold you over until they get back to the main arc, which will hopefully come out on dvd in June.
