Friday the 13th: The Collection

Camp Blood - the original
What can I really say that hasn't already been said about this first venture into the life of Jason Voorhees? Before the Blair Witch was haunting the woods, before the werewolves of Dog Soldiers were stomping around in the dark, before countless other copy-cat wannabes, there was the menacing killer of Friday the 13th.

To be sure, John Carpenter hit the nail on the head a few years prior with the classic Halloween, but Friday the 13th also opened audience's eyes to a new breed of horror movie - the gory serial killing scream-fest.

For those in the know, Jason doesn't make an appearance until Part 2, but his legacy is revealed in fine family fashion here. The simple plot entails a small boy who drowns at a summer camp while the counselors are busy getting busy. Needless to say, his mom is rather pissed and unforgiving, and Jason just might not be dead...

The killings, for early 80's, are quite inventive - an ax through the head, an arrow through the...

A genre classic
I was working in a cinema in 1980 when this film was first released, No one expected it to take a light and it opened in one of the complex's smallest screens. Big mistake. From day one queues formed for this film and many wannabe punters were somewhat peeved for being turned away. Those who got in though experienced a genuinely scary horror film and it remains one of the best audience participation films that I have ever seen. Throughout the film, the suspense runs along and builds up to a crescendo prior to each slaying or to a false moment of fear.

The ending, however is something else. Sure it ain't exactly original but boy is it effective. I have never seen an audience scream so loudly and in total unison, and have some people visibly shaken and in tears sometimes afterwards.... Night after night, the result was the same and Friday The 13th became one of the 'sleepers' of 1980. Watch out too for a young Kevin Bacon as one of the teens in peril.

The passage...

The Gold Standard
I've already recorded my thoughts on the original Friday the 13th. I think it's among the top two or three greatest slasher films ever made. It has a kind of 'Blair Witch Project' feel about it, as you never see who or what you are dealing with until very close to the end. This creates an aura of dread, as well as a nearly tangible feeling that these characters are pretty much doomed.

I don't waste too much time mincing words about such matters-to me, this is a great movie. Not just a great slasher film, but a great film, by ANY standards. And it continues to grow on me. By now, I've seen it around 100 times, but I continue to like it better over time.

One word of caution, though. They refer to it as 'uncut',as if this is a big deal. I expected there to be major differences, such as reinserted deleted scenes or something of that nature. There isn't. So don't expect to get anything radically different than what you've had in the past. In fact, the major...

3-D Triple Feature: Dinosaurs Alive! / Wild Ocean / Mummies (IMAX) [Blu-ray]

Fantastic value, great packaging, nothing was left out
This set is a must-own for anyone with a 3D TV. While we do own quite a few non-IMAX 3D movies, we've found that the 3D is most effective when captured by the IMAX experts, so we have gravitated to all of these available and are slowly but surely collecting them all. This set is a tremendous value as these movies can be quite expensive individually if you aren't careful. And considering these movies are only about 45 minutes or so each, any extra value is appreciated.

Contrary to what the previous reviewer said, these movies are not packed in on a single disc. The case is of the extra wide variety and there is a swinging disc tray inside to hold the third disc. Yes, there are three - each movie gets its own disc and even includes its own special features, including interesting "making of" featurettes that were shot in HD. And yes, you can also watch these in 2D if for some strange reason you prefer that.

As far as the actual quality of the movies go, it's my...

i like it
I like the 3D IMAX format, and my daughters enjoy watching documentaries in that format. I will be always aware of this type of documentaries on all who come in Spanish language.

I expect a little bit more action but it's ok for a moment.
Three disc, three feature movies included in this set. If you like documentals, may be this is for you, but if you expect a little bit more action, just look for another feature. Quality is good, I mean, in terms of 3d. There is also a 2d version included in the same disc. About 3d efects, let me tell you that in certain moments the 3d efect looks just plain or 2d. I watched those discs on a Sony screen with active shutter glasses, sometimes you can see the crosswalk efect, may be is the screen or may be the movie itself, problably if you went to watch them on a 3d Imax screen you would say that look spectacular. In may opinion, let me tell you that I was expecting a little bit more action, because sometimes, it seems that more scientis have to contributed in order to make these films up to the level, in other words, we need more information about everything, a high level of research. In wild ocean feature, there are moments that seems a little bit monotonous (bored), because for a...

Meditation & Mandala Art Therapy

inspiring
I always wanted to try using a mandala to reach deeper and to learn more about myself and this video helped me break the ice! I've now done two mandalas which I still use to meditate on and learn new things about myself. I was surprised and how intimidating the whole process seemed at first and this video really helped me take the first step. It's amazing when you start sharing your mandala - If you're so inclined- to others, the layers they can read into your drawings! Thanks Kris for a great intro to mandalas and their uses!!!

Perfect introduction to drawing Mandalas!
This DVD was recommended to me by a close friend to better understand personal Mandala drawing, their meaning and how to do it. I was left so inspired I sat down and drew my first one! Kristine delivers an intricate and ancient concept in an easy and engaging way. If you have any curiosity about what Mandalas are, or how they work, watch this short DVD but be sure to have some colored pencils and a pad. You will want to try it first hand!

Straight Right (Institutional Use)

Unbelievable movie - I was stunned!
This movie floored me. It's not often that a movie affects me like this one did. As a matter of fact, the last movie that had this kind of affect on me, even though it is very different, was The Crow.

At the end of that one, I just layed my head down on my girlfriend's lap and cried - and couldn't stop. I think maybe it was because of what happened to Brandon Lee, but it was actually kind of embarassing, I just couldn't stop.

With this movie, it was just the absolute pain that the protagonist was in, all from not being able to get over the traumatization of what happened to him when he was a child. He starts trying to keep the same thing that happened to him from happening to other kids, but with disastrous results.

I was just rapt the entire movie, watching it unfold, wondering where it would go. And where it did end up going was tragic, but it was also compelling and beautiful. And while I didn't lay in my (now wife's) lap and cry the way I did...

Genocide: The Horror Continues

Incredible!
The content was incredible. Masterfully done. It's sad and horrific to believe this is still happening. Evil takes innocence. In every case the people had no way to defend themselves. Their government in many cases brought the evil on them. We need to continue our campaign to save our 2nd Amendment rights.

Begging Naked (Institutional Use: Non-Profit)

A woman I can't forget
I grew up and lived half my life in NYC. I knew many people that lived in the fringes. Still, when I first saw Begging Naked a few years ago I was a bit shocked and quite moved by this view of a very real life of a fellow New Yorker. This is a film about a friendship and about a stoic woman who deals with her life on her own terms in spite of substantial psychiatric baggage. It was good news indeed when I heard that I can buy and own this film at a reasonable price so that I can watch it again and share it with the friends that have heard me carry on about it these last few years.

I first saw this film at a film festival in the Berkshires a few years ago. It was the best film I saw at that festival that week. Now, after hundreds of films seen since, Begging Naked is the one that my mind won't let go of.

Burrows into your soul
Once you see this documentary, you will not forget it. It has haunted me. It's an uncompromising, heartbreaking look at how a promising, artistically gifted young woman was pulled down into mental instability and homelessness, and how there was no safety net for her. She's someone many of us New Yorkers have probably walked right by on the street or in Central Park--too often averting our eyes. If you see this film, it will change your perception of homelessness forever.

A MUST SEE FILM!!!
This film is a must see for anyone who is curious about how hard life in the city really is..Especially for an artistic woman with no family support, and mental challenges..Ever since I've seen this film I've been haunted by Elise, the main character, her precious personality and the pain that has been her life will not leave my mind..In fact I'm going to Central Park to find her to offer my help..Karen Gehres is an incredible director, she handled Elise's story w/dignity, honesty and an intimacy that makes this film riveting.. I cannot recommend this enough, definitely one of the BEST documentaries I've seen in a LONG time!!! Two thumbs up!!!

The New Women (Institutional Use)

Zany Guilty Pleasure
Complete and utter camp, The New Women is a must see for anyone into cult B-movies. Full of hilariously bad lines, weird sci-fi twists and kooky characters, it wears its love of John Waters and Russ Meyer on its sleeve. It stars Mary Woronov ("Eating Raoul") as Lisa LaStrada whose husband is cheating on her with the town slut. At her sister's BBQ, she starts boozing it up for the first time in 3 years and spirals down into a despair the likes of which only Devine has ever surpassed.

On her way home from the party, a weird rainstorm hits. It causes the entire world to go into a sleep from which only the women awake days later. What will Lisa do? Why, take her cheatin' husbands' job as town sheriff and unsuccessfully attempt to stop the rampant looting and chaos, of course.

And it gets loonier. It eventually turns into a road movie when Lisa, her sister, the town's senior citizen floozy, and the local feminist all jump in an RV and head to Elysium, a new society that was made...

Dali-Lost in Space
This should be reworked with a changed more powerful score. I wouldn't change any of the actors, although I did reach for my abseced tooth once and awhile. I must go back and see Death Race 2000 again. I asked my wife tonight I f I should become an actor, because it doesn't seem like I'm making it at anything else. Hope floats. I loved the coloring of the scientist! Stereotypes are shattered, an alcholic can properly raise two children on her own. Although, I wonder where the realist were: they didn't run out of gas once, even at 3 miles to the gallon, they were present when the desperate housewives were starving, I got really excited to see a realistic Zombie!! Sandra Kinder made it in the movie "worth the price to see it again."

Frisky, Feisty and Fierce
Within THE NEW WOMEN's opening minutes, at least 10 ways to love the feature film emerge. You've got a sumptuous, rural noir road trip. You've got femmes - fatale, frisky and fierce. You've got film references that range from '40s noir to '50s sci-fi to '60s chixploitation to '70s apocalypse, and that crackling, smart dialogue we haven't heard for decades. While the film's core is feminine nuance, the film's look is a rhapsody of texture.
THE NEW WOMEN gives you that rare aesthetic density, a funky, sophisticated humor and a provocative voila! Riffing off the feisty, all-female melodrama George Cukor pioneered in THE WOMEN, this film likewise exults in an all-girl milieu, but amped with a sci-fi premise. The film's humor is sharp and ingenious, and the women are by turns frenetic, profound, campy and coy - full-bodied females that straight cinema could care less about.

14 Days with Alzheimer's: A Film by Lisa Cerasoli

Laughter...the best medicine!
I was not sure how this was going to make me feel, considering I watched my own grandmother die with Alzheimers. As I started to watch the story unfold, mentally preparing to see our experience on film, I was caught off guard by the moments that made me smile and bust out laughing. The laughter laced with the reality was something that I did not expect. My regret now is not having seen this film before my own grandmothers struggle. I think this would have helped us on so many levels in coping and dealing with this dreaded disease. I hope anyone dealing with a loved one with Alzheimers sees this film. I'm off to read the book now! Thanks to Lisa and her family for bringing this highly personal moment for all of us to experience.

You will laugh and you will cry.
I had the pleasure of viewing this film at the Boulder Life and Death Matters film festival last summer. It is really a beautiful love letter from Lisa Cerasoli to her Gram - and a realistic look at caring for someone with this horrid disease. When life gives you lemons, make lemonades. That's what Lisa did with this film. By capturing Nora Jo's last days with such warmth and humor, it helps soothe the pain of the reality of caring for loved one with Alzheimer's. You have to laugh, or you'll just cry. I have watched this film over and over and over, and recommend it (and the book "Nora Jo Fades Away") to anyone currently caring for someone with Alzheimer's, or who has cared for a loved one with this disease in the past. You'll fall in love with Gram, Lisa and her daughter Jazz the first time you see it.
Well done, Lisa, and thank you for sharing your Gram with us. Wish I would have known her.

Hilarious, Heartbreaking and Utterly Genuine
I've watched my fair share of documentaries, and I usually end up liking them and learning something...and then I'm happy when they're over. 14 Days w/Alzheimer's leaves you wanting more. It somehow relays all the trials and tribulations that occur with this disease effectively, but does it in such a way that it feels like pure entertainment. I didn't know you could fall so hard so fast for an older woman, the lead, Nora Jo, but this woman endeared herself to me in the first minutes of the show - the whole family did. And I forgot it was low budget, I forgot I was "supposed" to be getting an education. The style in which Cerasoli chose to film, made me feel like a fly on the wall. These folks left nothing to the imagination. I feel like I know them now. I feel like I know so much more about Alzheimer's, and I have less fear of the illness. And I feel lucky to have seen this. What a masterpiece! I loved this movie (almost) as much as Nora Jo loved beer!

Pregnancy Fitness Dvd: Body By Trimester (February 10, 2012)

You won't be disappointed!
Pre-pregnancy on a typical week I'd be sweating along to one of Jillian Michael's DVDs or P90x. So finding a GOOD prenatal DVD was very important to me. Prior to becoming pregnant, I did a lot of research- watched a lot of clips on YouTube. To me, a lot of prenatal workout DVD previews I saw lacked the challenge I was seeking. Then I found Body by Trimester and knew it would be a must buy.

I purchased Body by Trimester the week I found out I was pregnant. I've been following Joy's workouts since about week six of pregnancy. I LOVE these workouts! I exercise first thing in the morning and Joy's personality is bubbly, motivating and not mention she is adorable. I never feel irritated or annoyed by listening to the same workout every week. Joy's workouts are a series of supersets that are targeted towards the areas that have the most change during pregnancy. You'll get a full range of muscle exercises: from shoulders, to back, to legs, to abs! Plus these workouts are about 30...

An excellent prenatal workout for the advanced exerciser
I am 20 weeks into my second pregnancy and I have started to get to the point where my typical pre-pregnancy workouts were starting to become too difficult. Around 5 years ago, the last time I was in the market for prenatal workouts, the selection was pretty dreary for the advanced exerciser (Lindsay Brin's Lindsay Brin's Complete Pregnancy 4-DVD Workout Set: Cardio, Toning PLUS Yoga was the only reasonable workout I could find). This workout is better.

I did not use the first trimester dvd because I did my regular workouts during the first trimester and up until around 19 weeks. I started this workout at the second timester.

This workout is suitable for the advanced exerciser who would like to remain in shape throughout her pregnancy. I would not recommend this to the person who has not been a consistent exerciser. This is a circuit-training workout with weights that works both upper...

Fun video! Gets you off the couch but not to straining!
I like these fun videos. I was looking for a way to workout while pregnant and the gym just didn't seem appealing to me (ie wearing tight spandex while I was pre-cute-baby-bump was just humiliating). So I looked for a fitness video I could do in my own home and feel comfortable. Joy is really a "joy" to work out with. She's young and hip but not annoying. She's fun to listen to and she keeps you going and encourages you without sounding like a Barbie doll or a drill sergeant. I felt like I was just working out with a friend. Also, the exercises to me, an athletic person seemed a little novice, but being pregnant my heart definitely was pumping hard to keep up. She does a lot of thigh, hip, buttock workouts to strength those muscles for labor and the day after I did the video my legs were soooo sore! She also makes you sit and do Kegels which I found helpful, because I forget to do them.

P.S. you'll need an exercise ball and some 5-8 lbs weights to play along.

Frequent Flyer

Glasses Up To Frequent Flyer
This movie is a true American classic, in the sense that you can make a drinking game out of almost every event in this film. For instance, every time horses appear in this film, which are more often then you think. Often enough to have you hammered 20 minutes in. There are some really confusing parts to this movie, like Addy (the young boy in the film) makes hand gestures when describing a package his mother got for his father. There is unfortunately zero nudity, making this one a good one for the whole family. The story line encourages strong family values in the end as well, so that is a plus. Oh, and airline stock footage called, they want their shots back.

Wonderful Movie
I saw this movie on lifetime years ago. It is one of my all time favorites. It will also enlighten you to how a cheaters mind work. But in this case he Honestly fell in love with all the women. Good storyline.

Quite simply the best film of all time
Based on the true story of a misunderstood genius. Jack Wagner at his best; get your hands on this under-rated classic before it's too late.

Discreet

Great movie
If you read the movie description you might actually think this is a sleazy movie with a lot of nudity and sex. On the contrary it is not. The screenplay is outstanding with twists and turns and the plot intelligent enough to keep the movie moving along with a good pace. Since there are just two main characters they sure hold the fort with their excellent acting.

If you appreciate the fact that sometimes a movie based largely on the conversations between two persons can be so intense, personal, deep, powerful, and intelligent that it can handily overcome the fact that it doesn't have the typical Hollywood need for more actors and different scene settings, then you would certainly enjoy this movie.

The only debate I had about commenting on this movie is whether it is a 4 (great) or 5 (superb) star movie. In the end, I think it deserves 4.5 stars.

Hats off to all, especially the author, screenplay writer, actors, director, and producer for delivering a...

Surprisingly good (and a little perplexing) movie!
I was weary about this movie at first. The description didn't give very much information about the plot and it looked like it might be sleazy. But it was surprisingly good. There is very little action (no pun intended)--almost all of the movie is one long intense conversation between the two main characters. 'Thomas' (male lead) was kind of annoying and preachy at times but overall both actors conveyed a strong sense of vulnerability. Also, there is somewhat of a surprise twist at the end (not everything is as it seems). One final point, the ending might disappoint some. If you want something different but more realistic than the usual formulaic Hollywood-style movie, I would recommend this.

Could have been so much less
A well made film which manages to take the viewer through a frank, emotional and philosophical discussion related to a young man's visit with a high-end prostitute.

Kudos go to writer/director Joshua Rous, writer/star James Alexander and his wife/co-star Anel Alexander for teasing us with sexual situations, attractive, seemingly simplistic characters and scenes that threaten to send the story in numerous cliched directions but ultimately presenting to the audience the unique personal tales of two not-so-simple people. This wasn't the movie I expected nor did it end the way I thought it would - two statements that should be taken as compliments to those who worked on this production.

If you're looking for something that borders on porn, go elsewhere. If you want entertainment that is numbingly familiar, there's plenty of that to be found under other titles. However, if you like the idea of two fine, young actors exploring their characters' psyches with the...

Citizen Jane

Justice will be Served
Outstanding movie based on true events. Ally Sheedy is great as Jane a woman who devotes 13 years bringing her aunts killer to justice. Sean Patrick Flanery is perfectly cast as Jane's long time friend turned lover. Handsome, charming and totally convincing as Tom O'Donnell. Meat Loaf is the surprisingly effective casting choice for Jack Morris, the cold case detective that never gives up. I was riveted watching this movie and the coming to terms that such a good looking, seemingly moral man might not be what he seems to be.

Disappointed
I loved the book but I thought the TV movie was awful. The casting was way off too. I also did not mind that the DVD that I purchased broke halfway through the movie and would not play. I recommend the book but don't waste your money on the DVD.

Scorpio Men on Prozac

Very Enjoyable - Fun for Everyone
This film was a splendid Jewel from out of left field. It's fun, has an excellent cast, and is well written. The director knows how to invite you to enjoy the characters with all their colorful quirks. You don't need to know anything about Scorpios to enjoy this movie. It is meant for everyone and leaves you smiling. Even the title draws you in. He makes you want to see the movie before you know ANYTHING about it!

Production values represent what you would expect from an indie, but that's OK. You have to start somewhere. It's probably the only reason I couldn't say 5 star.

Most importantly, I feel this film is unique for its time. Nobody else is really making films quite like this. You feel like you are on the inside of an inside joke. Like you are sharing a laugh along with the director.

It is endearing. You can see this Film is made from a love of the craft and host of knowledge.

Enjoy. And if you do like it, then share it with others.

Good movie!
Actually bought it for one of the actors in it! I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. You make the decission!

Great indie film!
This film really surprises you with it's intelligence and satire. It's a true original. I love all the characters and how the story shows us the unique aspect to their somewhat stereotypical nature. Justin Hartley is very raw in this performance. Erin Cummings is a dream as usual! So many stars emerging from this indie film, it's sure to be a cult classic. (-;

MAHLER: Symphonie No. 2 in C minor 'Resurrection' - Music Experience in 3-Dimensional Sound Reality [7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio Disc] [Blu-ray Audio] [Audio Only]

This is a BD-R remastered from a stereo recording to be 7.1
Looks like Alexander Jero removed all of his poorly-reviewed recordings and re-listed them as new products to wipe out all the 1-star reviews they got. I was one of the unlucky ones tricked into buying this garbage from Acoustic Reality, and I am disappointed that an entire new group of music lovers may be tricked into buying any of these cheap Acoustic Reality Blu-rays, especially at the rip-off prices being charged.

Look at the review history for any 5-star reviews Acoustic Reality products and you'll see a pattern: a cabal of 10-20 people from blu ray dot com who unilaterally support the producer of these sub-par products, Alexander Jero, despite the fact that the recordings do not deliver. The performances are average, the surround experience lacking, and the overall product quality amateurish. From typos on the jacket to the BD-R disc seemingly burned at someone's computer, this is NOT what should be representing the future of Blu-ray audio.

If you look at...

Great sound - poor performance
Quality of the recorded sound is outstanding.
I personally do not like the interpretation and would not care to hear this recording again.

Sounds good, but looks like a bootleg...
Like others have noted, the disk loads as an AVCHD instead of BD. I'm not an expert in all of the various studio authoring methods out there, but the disk does not visually appear to be a Bluray disk. The data side of the disk has a deep blue color similar to a blank DVD-R, and not the stamped silver that is common with professionally published disk media. Also, the label on the disk feels very similar to the etchable Lightscribe disks where the DVD burner can also create the label. The case booklet looks cheaply printed on thin paper stock. It too looks like it was printed on a low resolution laser printer.

The sound quality is very good however, and is a DTS HD 7.1 at 96kHz/24 bit as advertised.

So all-in-all the data content is what I expected, but at best this is cheaply published media, at worse a bootleg that somehow got into Amazon's merchant stream.

2012 Eruption Update: A Firsthand Account of the Current Eruption of Kilauea Volcano [Blu-ray]

Winter 2012 Eruption Update of Kilauea
Enjoyed this video. Having visited Kilauea several times within the last decade or two; having personally seen places that the lava has covered over to a quite substantial depth, that I had once walked on, makes an impression. Seeing the on going flows of lava, the amount of area covered by the lava, is quite impressive.
Now seeing that the small crater within the main crater of Kilauea active, makes me want to return, just to see that event happening.
O.K. Volcanoes impress me. I think they're awesome!
The night and aerial images of the lava flows, and their entry into the sea is always one of my favorite things.

Three Rivers (2009-2010)

"Three Rivers" takes the televison medical drama genre a third gigantic leap forward.
I am a fan of television medical drama. As a kid, I grew up with "Ben Casey". My passion for the subject of medicine being portrayed in the media took two gigantic leaps forward with "St. Elsewhere" and "ER". The intelligence and the spirit of the creators behind these shows truly permeated through their storylines and their characters, to connect with viewers like myself, so strongly, because they acknowledged that we too had intelligence and spirit. I have followed the concept write-ups for "Three Rivers" - a new fall CBS drama which tells the story of today's cutting edge medical technologies and processes of organ and tissue transplantation from three perspectives - those of the transplant team; the donors and their families; and the recipients and their families. Headed by Alex O'Loughlin ("Moonlight"), and supported by a strong ensemble cast including a long-time personal favourite, Alfre Woodard ("St. Elsewhere" and "L.A. Law"), I hold high hopes for "Three Rivers" to share...

Fantastic Show; like Moonlight, wasn't given a chance!
Well, just like we have our sixteen episodes of Moonlight to watch on DVD, now we have our thirteen episodes of Three Rivers. All of the fans know that both were amazing shows, so I won't go into an explanation of why they were cancelled. I will just say that Three Rivers is an excellent show, and if you want to enjoy the outstanding thirteen episodes we did get to see, buy this DVD or Blu-Ray.

Alex O'Loughlin stars as transplant surgeon Andy Yablonski, and his character is based on the work of real life transplant surgeon Dr. Stawinski from the Cleveland Clinic where he specializes in organ transplants. Dr. Stawinski actually tutored Alex for the role, even down to taking him into real surgeries and teaching him how to do stitches, and everything that he could to bring realism to the show. Being the quick study that Alex is he did an amazing job, and he was surrounded by an outstanding cast as well. Eclectic, to say the least, and one of my favorites is Alfre Woodard...

Three Rivers
Three Rivers is a fascinating show, and it has something for everyone. You don't have to be a fan of medical dramas to enjoy it. Alex O'Loughlin is perfectly cast as Dr. Andy Yablonski, and his hard work and study shows. Alex is extremely passionate about this role, and has become an ambassador for Donate Life.
Not only is Three Rivers informative and important in educating people about organ donations, but the writers are quickly weaving stories around the various characters, and making me more and more anxious to see each episode. The entire cast is excellent, but I am glad to see that we are finding out more about Dr. Andy and his past and personal life. A doctor with a dark past to deal with along with work that keeps him too busy to keep his marriage together makes for a fascinating hour.
The writers have woven the three parts of this show so skillfully - the doctors, the donors and the families of the donors. There is action to keep your attention the entire hour...

Tales of the Abyss Part 4

Dragging along...
Compared to the first 3 parts, this fourth volume is a bit long in the teeth. It tries its best to squeeze 6 episodes out of what little is left of the game's story, basically clearing up loose plot strings such as the six God Generals, the clones, the battle of the wills between Asch and Luke and the final confrontation with the main villian. The ending is just as vague and perplexing as presented in the game, I was honestly looking forward to having the OVA expand upon the game's ending to clarify a few points as to the fate of Luke/Asch. Sadly, it is kept the same, potentially to give viewers to speculate on what really occurred after the characters left Luke in charge of Alderant.

good try watching it after you beat the game
just help you see what happend with out all the side quest =D also i say it is sad not eng but i can live with that

The World God Only Knows: Season One [Blu-ray]

Fantastic, splendid and perfect
This is one of the best comedic Anime series I've ever watched in my 7 years of Anime fandom. The main character, Keima, is the highlight of this show. His views on the real life and the 2D world is really interesting (and pretty much funny), so watching him, a boy who have never even had a real conversation with a real girl, capture the interest of real girls is really impressing. Each new girl is a new "arch" and those episodes is usually about 2-3 episodes long. The other episodes are like a "bonus" to add to his character. To see this guy conquer real girls by using knowledge from visual novels is hilarious, and best of all: it works! Together with his co-worker sent from hell, Elsie, he uses her power to his own advantage after being "tricked" by her to capture spirits who reside in the girls empty hearts. The method this guy use is the most effective one: Filling the girls heart with love!

The quality on the HD-visuals is fantastic. The series was made for a high...

Very Funny with likable characters
This review is based off of the subtitled version so I will only be commenting on the story.

Keima Katsuragi is known as a capturing god or the "God of Conquest", he is the best at conquering every girl in dating sim games to the point where he doesn't even look at real life girls anymore because they don't follow the rules laid out in his games, as such he comes across as very moody and unapproachable.

One day Keima receives an email with a contract to assist someone with capturing the hearts of girls, he naturally accepts thinking this for a game, but in fact it was actually a contract with a demon named Elsie to capture the hearts of "real" girls in order to release escaped demons that have taken up residence in their hearts. You can imagine the hilarious nature of what is asked of Keima, to actually converse with and make real life girls fall in love with him, if he doesn't certain death lies ahead of him.

the story is fairly simplistic and at...

Great series, English Cast is Good
Is a Great series ,The World God Only Knows , Keima is known on the net as the god of getting the girls while in real life he's known as otamegane and he hates all real girls. However he is approached by Erushii, a devil from hell, to help her incatching runaway spirits that hide in people. Apparently the spirits only hide in the hearts of girls and the only way to get the souls out is by making the girl fall in love so the spirit gets forced out. And he's not allowed to fail or he will lose his head lol. Oh The English language cast is perhaps a bit "older" they sound okay good. Great Series Buy it!!

The Acoustic Guitar Fingerstyle Method

Excellent Follow Up
This 2 DVD set is the next step for those who have completed David Hamburgers' initial release, Acoustic Guitar Method.
The first release was a level one, for beginners, where as this set is a level two, the next phase in learning. It is designed for Advanced Beginners, those who know the chords and some basic picking pattern, but it is of great value to the Intermediate guitarist who is sharpening up his technique, and for those who wish to learn new songs, or that which may be the hidden value: polish for those who can technically play, yet sound staid, or flat.
David Hamburger is a gifted teacher, who breaks down complex material into simpler parts, and brings it together for a nice product. Those who can play through the ascending two DVD set of lessons, can pick up a guitar and play for a room full of people with a nice sound. The camera work is consistent with other Homespun products, always with an easy on the eye flow, great close ups, and overall excellence...

Northern Lights: The Complete Collection

The BICKERING BOYS that kept 11,000,000 Brits laughing
2 guys began their one-upmanship fray in school and then never grew up. Their relationship is the key to this comedy duo that takes on family and employment consequences as they remain best buddies but always trying to out-do the other. The comic duo begins with a Christmas special debut/pilot. Their amazing spark developed through 2 seasons, and then ended in a Santa farce. All good, all humorous, plus the additional aspects of drama, suspense, action, and romance through top notch scripts.

All on the DVDs is with SUBTITLES, even the Behind the Scenes Bonus (45 min).
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: The fun is shot in 2004 Manchester, with Colin (Robson Green-`Reckless' `Reckless the Sequel') and pal Howie (Mark Benton-`Land Girls' `Scoop') the bickering boys in adult bodies, neighbors, and co-workers. They are married to sisters but the harmony is far from perfect. Rivalry to the nth degree. A British Griswald frenzy. Jokes like a `wanking Santa' makes it older youth to adult fare...

LOVE IT!
This is a fantastic, heart-warming comedy-drama starring the perfectly cast and vastly entertaining duo of Robson Green and Mark Benton, who are brilliantly supported by Nicola Stephenson (Margaret in `Brookside') and Sian Reeves (Sydney Henshall in `Cutting It').

A real treat for all those who enjoy such classic slices of TV gold as `Clocking Off' and `Playing the Field' - and a gem for those not yet familiar with them!

Don't suppose there are any plans for a new series?! ... Pleeeeeeease???!!! ;D

Northern Lights
I usually love anything Robson Green is in. I found this series not up to his usual efforts. The story just didn't interest me. I found it kind of dull and uninteresting. Robson Green and the cast did very well with the material they were given but I would not watch it again. Other people who have seen it have obviously like it very much. For me it was just so-so.

The World God Only Knows: Season One Complete Collection

A Pleasant Surprise; Now A Favorite.
High-schooler Katsuragi Keima loves girls, but not in the conventional sense. No, the girls he loves are that of the digital realm, pixelated princesses of the various dating sim games he spends every waking moment playing. In fact, his lady love has earned him the title of "capturing god" amongst the online gaming community since he can successfully win over any game heroine. Unfortunately for Keima, this title has drawn some unusual attention. One day he receives a strange email challenge and becomes roped into helping a demon (Elsie) capture escaped demon souls. The trick: in order to capture said souls, he must first capture the hearts of the girls they've lodged themselves into. Yikes.

When I first read the synopsis for The World God Only Knows, I have to admit I thought it was going to be a corny, lovey-dovey show, but it quickly proved me wrong. God Only Knows is more of a comedy than anything, and had me in hysterics from the first episode. Much of this...

Anime was Good
its came in good condition with no problem it is an excellent anime and it was amazing to watch and see

Keima the God of Conquest, huh?
A The World God Only Knows Anime Review
Keima is a boy that really likes video games. To be exact dating sim games. These types of games involve conquering 2-dimensional girls and to make them fall in love with him. The only real problem is Keima would rather exist only in his 2-D dating sim games. He would frequently try to reject the real world. This causes everyone around him to see him as a total dweeb Oh, and he usually would get teased Although the interesting thing about him is that Keima doesn't that bother him. Since he's actually pretty well-known on the web as a major 2-D girl conqueror he gets approached by Elsie, a demon girl, who sees him as a God or "Kami". Elsie wants him to make girls fall in love with him.

The World God Only Knows creates a most original concept in the story. Keima soon starts caring about others beyond just his dating sim games even though he still regains his ideals primarily the one of "the world not exactly being anything...

Hubble's Canvas

Great Science!
I liked this because of the great images, the naration was good and informational. Ivan did a good job explaining the science and the images are first rate! I gave this a rating of four because this is geared more towards a younger audience but I think space enthusiasts will enjoy it as well.

King of Limbs Live From the Basement [Blu-ray]

Better than the CD
I didn't love the KOL CD. Then I saw them perform 7 of the 8 songs live and really
liked most of them, especially Separator, Mr. Magpie (James Brown from Jupiter) & Given up the Ghost (early '70's Neil Young).
If you can't see them in concert (tix are always tough to find) at least get both "In The Basement" DVD's.
KOL has at least 10 songs (vs. 8 on CD). After you watch it 2 or 3 times, the songs that sounded unformed or droning on the album start to grow on you like a fungus. Yes, I love The Bends & OK Computer too, but that was then, this is now. You can sit around grousing, or open yourself up to what they're doing now. Seeing them in concert helps the transition. I'm not sure their enormous, layered sound can be contained on a CD anymore.

The King Of Limbs Blu-ray review
I love Radiohead. They are one of my favorite bands and their music is so much better than most of what we hear today. I was very excited when I heard news that they would be releasing a live from the basement session on not just DVD, but for the first time a Blu-ray release! Now, I've watched the DVD, and it is fantastic. They really set the bar performance wise and have grown over the years in maturity. Picture quality looks great. Nothing to complain about. The sound quality is pretty good too. It comes in either Dolby 5.1 or PCM 2.1 stereo. The problem with this release though is the Blu-ray. It is encoded in a different region (B or C) and will not play on a standard Blu-ray player here in the U.S., which is very disappointing. I hope this gets re-released as a region 1 Blu-ray soon so we can enjoy the DTS HD 5.1 master sound quality. For now, the DVD will suffice.

Radiohead at their best
I had been anticipating this release for a long time and have watched various low quality versions of the performance. After receiving it I was totally blown away by the amazing video and sound quality after watching such low quality versions. The performance has such a different feel from the album. It feels more complete, powerful and organic. I can't stop watching it, and it's great to have the addition of the three non-album tracks, the daily mail, staircase, and supercollider, which are all excellent songs. While some will mourn the days of (insert your favorite album here), I think Radiohead are at the top of their game and the performance certainly reflects that.

As a side note on the Blu-ray, which I received, I had no difficulties playing it and I live in the US. Radiohead noted on there website that there may or may not be some playback issues in some other countries. I'm assuming this is why the DVD is also included.

No matter how you watch it though,...

Isn't Life Wonderful

A Romance of Love and Potatoes
Paul and Inga are one of the sweetest couples ever put to film. Two starry-eyed kids in love at a time when it's downright foolish to get married, what with Paul weak from poison gas and Inga working two jobs to scrape together a pitiful dowry, and not an extra room to let anywhere in Berlin. Life is bleak, there's only turnips to eat, money is virtually worthless. So Paul secretly grows potatoes in the shipyard where he lands a job and cultivates his prized plot with utmost dedication, pinning his dreams and staking his faith on that crop which will feed the family through the winter and free him to make a life with his beloved, in the little house he built for them on a little scrap of land. But something awful happens to the potatoes, and Paul and Inga despair of ever seeing their dreams fulfilled ... yet in the end love triumphs as it should.

A simple, affecting story of refugees and postwar survival, ISN'T LIFE WONDERFUL is Griffith's most personal film. It...

Griffith's Masterpiece.
ISN'T LIFE WONDERFUL was D.W. Griffith's last independent production before he was forced to sell his Mamaroneck studio to help pay off mounting debts from his Revolutionary War epic AMERICA and his bad business practices. Though little known today compared to earlier films like BIRTH OF A NATION or INTOLERANCE, this little film, in my opinion, is Griffith's masterpiece. It incorporates the best elements of intimate dramas like BROKEN BLOSSOMS with a large scale backdrop like HEARTS OF THE WORLD. In fact it has been said that Griffith made this film to atone for the rabid anti-German sentiments of HEARTS (just as INTOLERANCE was supposedly made to respond to the rabid racial bias of BIRTH OF A NATION).

This story of a poor family's trials and tribulations in inflation ravaged post World War I Germany is remarkably grim and is presented realistically. Griffith came under heavy criticism for presenting a sympathetic portrait of a family in Germany (they were changed from...

Definitely a Masterwork!
I fully concur with the first reviewer that this excellent film from KINO's "Griffith Masterworks" series is a masterpiece and no doubt one of Griffith's finest. As writer, director and producer, he managed to present a very realistic portrayal of Polish refugees struggling through the Depression years after World War I in Germany, when a cut of meat cost nine million Marks and people had to live off turnips day in and day out. The setting is far from what the film's title might imply, yet we learn that true love makes the smallest joy seem like life is simply wonderful. There is no over-sentimentality, however, nor too much intense drama or suspense, but the story takes you into the lives of a young couple and their family in such an effective way that you are fully engrossed from start to finish. To help it along is a beautiful music score with piano and violin by Robert Israel featuring some lovely old German folk songs, among others. The authentic German settings and scenery...

Sengoku Basara 2: The Complete Series Limited Edition (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

Enjoyable Enough Closure For The Series But Not A True End
While this set will give you the finale of the anime series it will of course not give a true ending on the conflicts going on between the characters themselves, but don't let that discourage you from this enjoyable series. If you've seen the first season then the second should come as no surprise and I do suggest getting the first season set to watch otherwise you will get confused on what's happening and who the characters are and their history. Again the animation and soundtrack fit great together bringing much more excitement to the action when you watch it.

Love it!!
I love this series, if you enjoyed the first season then you will love this season as well. Full of action!!!

LOVE AMAZON
Great great great great love anime but the CD look good nothing was wrong with it the person i buy this from was cool thanks bro....
